A Zynga blockchain executive praised P2E gaming skill as off the charts

Zynga’s blockchain gaming ambitions are taking shape, with the announcement that the company behind FarmVille and Words With Friends will produce the first nonfungible token game this year.

As prominent game company Zynga expands its crew, blockchain and also the play-to-earn gaming trend may become even more addicting in 2022.

Matt Wolf, a marketing veteran who formerly worked at Electronic Arts and Sega, has been named Zynga’s new vice president of blockchain gaming. He’s putting together a new team, bringing with him a plethora of “conventional gaming” expertise to the play-to-earn game (P2E).

When it came to the gamification aspects of nonfungible tokens (NFT) in P2E games, he guessed what many gamers were thinking. He acknowledged that gaming skill is “thin,” which is clearly where Zynga’s qualifications come into play.

Zynga, best known for FarmVille, CSR Racing, and Words With Friends, creates addicting “social” games that can be played on mobile devices. They consistently register over 100 million regular users each quarter, promoting themselves on social media sites and luring them in with multiplayer game options.

In comparison, the P2E gaming industry has prioritized speculation above gamification.

Zynga’s debut into P2E and NFTs might, in the end, breathe new life into a market dominated by entry-level visuals and superb tokenomics.

Zynga has a “strong gaming muscle,” according to Wolf, and “we’re strengthening our DeFi muscle.” They’re looking for additional professionals who “understand that component of the puzzle.” Overall, Zynga is focused on “building fun, value, and purpose-built videogames with durability and trustworthiness at their foundation.”
